About Later Life Borrowing
Later Life Borrowing is a UK later-life borrowing and equity release authority for the over-55s. We are an independent information and introducer service, operated by Best Business Loans Ltd (company number 16833937), with a named editor and sources cited on every claim. We are not a lender or a financial adviser, and nothing on this site is financial advice.
What we cover
We help over-55s do two things: understand and compare the ways to borrow in retirement, including equity release, lifetime mortgages and retirement interest-only (RIO) mortgages, and get matched with an FCA-authorised adviser. We explain how each option works, what it costs and what to watch for, so you can have a better-informed conversation with a regulated adviser.
How we work
Our guides are written in plain English and grounded in guidance from bodies such as the FCA, the Equity Release Council and MoneyHelper. We are clear that equity release or a lifetime mortgage reduces the value of your estate and may affect your entitlement to means-tested benefits, and that any decision is one for a regulated adviser. This site is information, not financial advice, and it is not a substitute for regulated advice.
How we are funded
Later Life Borrowing is free to read. We are an introducer: when you choose to take advice from an FCA-authorised adviser we introduce, we may be paid a referral fee, at no extra cost to you. This never changes our editorial verdicts. See how we are funded for the detail.
